BACSA Search
First and foremost BACSA Search will offer a
unified index |
to all BACSA’s Cemetery Books which record the names and memorial inscriptions of people buried in European cemeteries in India, South Asia, and elsewhere. This is a work in progress as a small band of volunteers is still at work on the transcription of the indexes into electronic form and uploading them into the database.
Also available on BACSA Search are indexes to the following resources which can be consulted in the BACSA Archive at the British Library: |
Some of the fine monuments in Lower Circular Road Cemetery in Kolkata
Cemetery files and registers relating to cemeteries in India, South Asia, the Middle East and the Far East.
Memorial Inscriptions outside Asia of people who lived or served in British India and elsewhere in Asia. These inscriptions come primarily from the United Kingdom (UKMIs), but there are also some from other countries particularly the Republic of Ireland. BACSA continues to collect 'UKMIs' and BACSA Search is regularly updated as they are received.
Family Histories containing biographical notes on people connected with India and South Asia.
